Our state-specific police legal update training is written by attorneys and is based on actual court cases selected from recent appellate court decisions. Lessons generally include an in-depth analysis of five target cases as well as questions and answers based on illustrative example cases. The lessons place the lesson taker in the position of the officer at the scene and examine how the court reviewed the officer’s actions. Topics covered include: search and seizure law; consent; interrogations; excessive force; drunk driving; the Americans with Disabilities Act, First Amendment law, landlord-tenant law for police, traffic law enforcement, and more. PLS also provides state-specific legislative updates.
