MISSOURI ONLINE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING

POST-Approved Training

PLS has provided monthly, interactive, state-specific online training for Missouri law enforcement officials since 1999. This training is sponsored by the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy (CMPA) and is Missouri POST-certified though that sponsorship.

PLS online training keeps officers current on recent and relevant state and federal court cases that directly impact their effectiveness in enforcing the law and in avoiding unnecessary civil liability.

Missouri Law Enforcement Lesson Packages

22-HOUR ANNUAL PACKAGE

The PLS 22-hour Missouri law enforcement officer lesson package includes a minimum of the following each year:

  • 2 hours of legal training; 

  • 2 hours of technical skills training; 

  • 2 hours of interpersonal perspectives training; 

  • 1 hour of de-escalation training; 

  • 1 hour of implicit bias training; and 

  • 1 hour of racial profiling training designed to help satisfy the requirements under Missouri Revised Statutes section 590.050.1. 

 

       The remaining hours will consist of other legal, interpersonal perspectives, and technical skills training.  To assist agencies with CALEA training requirements, this package will generally include the following additional lessons each year: ethics, arrest and detention of foreign nationals, sexual harassment, and mental illness. This package will include some repeat lessons designed to fulfill mandated training requirements​.

18-HOUR ANNUAL PACKAGE

The PLS 18-hour Missouri law enforcement officer lesson package includes a minimum of the following each year:

  • 2 hours of legal training; 

  • 2 hours of technical skills training; 

  • 2 hours of interpersonal perspectives training; 

  • 1 hour of de-escalation training;  

  • 1 hour of implicit bias training; and 

  • 1 hour of racial profiling training designed to help satisfy the requirements under Missouri Revised Statutes section 590.050.1.

 

      The remaining hours will consist of other legal, interpersonal perspectives, and technical skills training.  To assist agencies with CALEA training requirements, this package will periodically include the following additional lessons: ethics, arrest and detention of foreign nationals, sexual harassment, and mental illness.

12-HOUR ANNUAL PACKAGE

The PLS 12-hour Missouri law enforcement officer lesson package includes a minimum of the following each year:

  • 2 hours of legal training; 

  • 2 hours of technical skills training; 

  • 2 hours of interpersonal perspectives training; 

  • 1 hour of de-escalation training.  

  • 1 hour of implicit bias training; and 

  • 1 hour of racial profiling training designed to help satisfy the requirements under Missouri Revised Statutes section 590.050.1. 

 

     The remaining hours will consist of other legal, interpersonal perspectives, and technical skills training.  This package costs $120 per officer per year, with discounts available for large agencies. PLS does not charge for reserve officers so long as the number of reserves does not exceed the number of paid lesson takers
