In need of dispatcher training that would fit within all shifts,
the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office reached out to Police Legal Sciences for Dispatch Pro
ISSUES BEFORE PLS:
Before working with Police Legal Sciences, the office had no standardized online training in place. Instead, they attended classes recommended and sponsored by other agencies and occasionally held their own sessions. In addition to classes being costly, in-person training was challenging to organize for individuals with different shifts. Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office recognized they needed a flexible training option that could better accommodate all their employees’ schedules.
The value of the classes cannot be underrated, both monetarily and in the personal edification of the workers who take the courses.

In our opinion, there is no valid reason for not investing in our workers to improve their abilities and providing another tool to make them a success in their career choice.

SUCCESSES WITH PLS:
One of the supervisors had heard about other agencies’ successes with Police Legal Sciences and decided to buy Dispatch Pro. It only took employees about ten minutes to get familiar with the program, and the agency is having more success in keeping the profession current and relevant. They’re also impressed with the real call examples, as trainees can reflect on how they would have managed the situation without the pressure of handling it. These scenarios have led to productive conversations in the office and has better-prepared dispatchers for their own daily calls.
